Our home for 3 days.

This little guy was waiting for us when we arrived at our hotel in Vienna.

Dinner the night we arrived.

We arrived in Vienna about 10pm, and went out for a quick bite of dinner. We were so tired we almost fell asleep at the table. Reid had barely slept since leaving Chicago the day before.

The spire at the Stephansdom. We climbed the stairs.

Another church...there are LOTS of churches in Vienna

The "dome" in this church was a fake.

When you entered the church and looked at the ceiling, it appeared as though their was a huge, decorated dome in the center.

When you walked to the other side, you could see it was just an artists trick.

We had lunch here on Day 1.

A busy afternoon at what became our favorite ice cream place

Reid enjoying his favorite late afternoon activity on Day 1.

An old building transformed into a store. Cool building though

Reid enjoying ice-cream to end Day 1.

On Day 2 (Sunday), we visited the Schonbrunn Palace.

Taking a break in a cafe

After the palace, we stopped at an amusement park. It was quite amusing.

Here, Reid is petting the ponies.

Scene at the amusement park (Prater, it was called)

This clown ride must have been 50 years old, as were many of the rides.

The "Jurasik Park" ride

The special effects in this one were "incredible".

Dinner Day 2.

We had Wienner Schnitzel for dinner at this place. They were advertised to be "as big as your plate" and they were.

After dinner I snapped this picture of one of the many Smart Cars.

Day 3

On Day 3, we spent the day wandering around Hofburg. Which was an unbelievable display of georgeous buildings built by one of the Austrian kings.

We saw these signs all over Vienna. Never could figure out what they meant.

Backstage pictures from the Vienna Opera Tour

Most of the opera was destroyed in WWII. These couple are the only remaining areas that weren't destroyed by the bombing.

Dinner Day 3.

Reid chose our dinner spot on our last night. He chose, of all places, a Lebanese restaraunt (with the help at Karen at the Hilton). As you can see it, like everything else in Europe, was under construction and covered by scaffolding.

We had to climb under this plastic to get into the restaurant.

Our table was in the courtyard by this "lovely" fish pond.

Reid eating (and actually enjoying) his Lebanese meal.

He got to know the owner of the restaurant, who coincidently went to College at Webster University - a university in St. Louis that apparently has a sister college in Vienna. The guy's cousin also lives in Texas, so he gave Reid his cousin's email address to contact him from Baylor.

The end of a fun trip.
