Day 7

We woke up to temperatures of about 25 degrees.  Our coldest night so far.  The plan for today was to leave the Lamar Valley and head down to southern Yellowstone and see Old Faithful.  To get to Old Faithful we had to drive over a mountain pass.  It was the first snow of the year that night and just after we got through the pass, they closed the road.  We got some great photos of a heard of elk in the snow.

On the way to Old Faithful we stopped at a geyser field on the shores of Yellowstone Lake.  These were really spectacular.  The photos don't really show how beautiful the colors of the waters were.  Finally we saw Old Faithful.

Our campsite that night was nothing special...in fact if was the first time we weren't camping by either a lake or a stream.  This, however, was our LAST night of camping!
