With the recent snowfall of just under four inches, the trails have significantly improved from last weekend conditions.  Grooming was completed on the majority of trails last night leaving the trails in excellent condition.  We were up in the Stillwater area and trails North of Stillwater towards Bent's Camp most of yesterday with conditions being excellent.  The only exception was the shortcut route between Plum and Star Lake which was its normal bumpy self due to the fact that it is a "local shortcut" trail and is never groomed.  We did notice that no barrrels were placed on either Plum or Star Lake but we still followed the shortcut route across the two lakes to Stillwater.  Both lakes exhibited no slush conditions.  The ice is a little over 12 inches thick.

Today we ventured over to the Boulder Junction area following 6, 11 and 15 trails which were groomed and in excellent condition.  The corners were all in excellent condition as sled traffic was light.  Good speeds were maintained as the trail snow base was really good.  Only areas exhibiting a thin base were in areas of dense woods mixed with good size pine trees.  Those were few and far between.  The roads doubling as trails were very runnable with a good base of snow on them.  I am hoping for some additional snowfall by Friday to keep the trails in excellent shape for the coming weekend.  Without new snowfall, the trails will most likely start to exhibit a thin condition but still should be better than last weekend's terrible "thin" conditions with rocks and gravel the norm .

Tommorow we are heading out South of Highway 70 to check out the trails towards Lake Tomahawk and Rainbow Flowage.
